‘Optimism’ of seeing ‘white smoke’ for big Man United swap deal – Time is running out

Revealing that Juventus had received some offers for Paulo Dybala, Pavel Nedved gave Manchester United fans some hope the reported swap deal with Romelu Lukaku could take place.
Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday don’t beat around the bush and do state it’s ‘possible’ after the Serie A side told the Argentine on Sunday they were ‘ready to listen to offers’ for him.
As already explained on Monday, there would be no issues down Lukaku’s end regarding a move to Juventus, as they believe an agreement in principle has already been reached between the Italians and the striker, and, once again, it’s reported the obstacle is Dybala’s willingness regarding an exit.
Preferring a move to La Liga over the Premier League if he were to leave, the Argentine feels that Manchester United’s style is too ‘physical’ and ‘not particularly offensive’.
Dybala will meet Maurizio Sarri on Thursday, where a conversation about his future will take place, and his ‘right-hand man’ is expected to arrive in the next few days as well, as the forward doesn’t have an official agent.

Over at Corriere dello Sport, there’s a bit more confidence, but the overall message remains the same: ‘Only Paulo can make everything fall through’.
However, there’s belief behind the scenes at Juventus there will be enough elements in Dybala’s favour to convince him of a move to Manchester United, including an eight-figure wage package (post-tax) waiting for him at Old Trafford.
Preferring Mauro Icardi to Lukaku at first, it’s said the Italians, after talking with Ed Woodward, realised getting the Belgian would be ‘quite advantageous’.
Talks with Federico Pastorello, the United player’s agent, also helped, and while there’s still some work to be done, Corriere claim there is ‘optimism’ of eventually seeing ‘white smoke’ (meaning a deal getting done).
As for when the announcement could happen, the Premier League club would like it done by the end of the week due to the early transfer window deadline, but they are willing to take extra risks if needed as they see Dybala as ‘ideal’ for Solskjaer’s 4231.
This means the priority these days is to get the Argentina international’s ‘yes’, and quickly.
