“My priority is to stay” – Leicester City player not thinking about another loan

Not wanted by Claude Puel at King Power Stadium at the start of last season, Islam Slimani was shipped off to Fenerbahce were things didn’t go that well for him, to put it nicely.
Shunned towards the end of the season, the Algerian still managed to make it into his country’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, which they went on to win by beating Senegal 1-0 in the final.
Expected back at Leicester City, where Brendan Rodgers has since replaced the Frenchman, Slimani has yet to join up with the squad, still on holiday following his international success.
The player returned to his former club, CR Belouizdad, on Monday where a ceremony was organised in his honour, which ended up being an occasion for him to speak about his future.

Relayed by DZ Foot, he said: “For now, I’m at Leicester City. We’ll see what happens after that. I still have two years of contract. Now, what’s important is to return to Leicester. My priority is to stay there. It’s the best league in the world”.
It’s not indicated whether the player has spoken to Rodgers about his future at the club, but it seems that Slimani is intent on ensuring he isn’t labeled as an expensive flop.
After all, he was the club’s most expensive player for a considerable amount of time, that is until Leicester broke it twice in quick succession, first by handing Newcastle £30m for Ayoze Perez and then ensuring Youri Tielemans stayed in England by paying Monaco over £40m.
