Leeds United forward Jay Roy Grot has told the Dutch media he doesn’t regret joining the Championship side, but he believes he’s now out of the picture.
The youngster was recently loaned out to Vitesse for next season.
Speaking to Gelderlander, Grot was asked about his future with Leeds United: “I want to take steps as a football player. I’m now out of the picture at Leeds. But in my heart, I did not say goodbye to the club. I also don’t regret United for a moment.
“As a person I have become much wiser there. I am young. I have to be patient. I can handle the Championship. Vitesse is now my priority.”
Grot played twenty Championship games for Leeds United in his debut season in England, scoring just one goal. However, most of those appearances came from off the bench and with the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa last summer it always seemed like the forward would have to go out on loan to get first team football.
Subsequently he was loaned out to VVV-Venlo during the last campaign. The 22 year old put in some impressive performances and earlier this year he was called up to the Netherlands U21s for the first time, making his debut.
Despite his form in the Dutch league it seems the player still isn’t in the plans of Bielsa and now he gets the chance to shine with Vitesse.
