Fulham and Newcastle United in French trip, both keen on in-form forward

It’s that time of the year again when scouts are sent across Europe to watch some Europa League and Champions League games, keeping an eye on their manager’s targets ahead of the January transfer window.
Back in September, Newcastle and Fulham were both touted to be interested in Bordeaux’s Francois Kamano, who had stepped his game up to fill the void left by Malcom’s departure to Barcelona.
The 22-year-old has scored seven goals in his first 12 games in the league, with a total of 10 in 21 appearances in all competitions.
This form clearly caught the eye of the recruiting staff at St James’ Park and Craven Cottage, and they’ve been following him throughout the campaign.

Thursday night was no different, as Girondins4Ever revealed prior to their game against Zenit St Petersburg in the Europa League that scouts from both Newcastle and Fulham would be present.
As well as Kamano, the Cottagers could have also been keeping an eye on an old target: Maxime Poundjé.
Last season, when his contractual situation was up in the air, the player decided not to pursue Fulham’s interest in his services, as he ‘didn’t want to leave for the sake of it’.
He put pen to paper on a three-year contract a few months later.
That doesn’t necessarily mean Fulham will have given up hope of signing him, though.
